Sometimes

Sometimes life doesn't work out the way that you thought it was when you were younger. Sometimes the people that you thought you knew the best you realize that you didn't really know at all. Sometimes you learn that you know more than you think you do. Sometimes you realize that you are stronger than you thought you were. Sometimes you realize that the people in your lives that have been there forever are the ones that you want there more than anything. Sometimes you realize that slowing down and enjoying the moment is as wonderful as it should be. Sometimes you realize that worring about things that you can't change is just a waste of time. Sometimes you realize that there are more important things in life than having all that you thought you wanted. Sometimes you realize that you can do something that you didn't think that you could. Sometimes waking up next to the person that you are spending your life with is one of the best feelings in the world. Sometimes you realize that the things your parents taught you were really right. Sometimes you realize how much you would LOVE to have your parents teach you something else. Sometimes you realize that you don't talk to your family know where near as much as you should. Sometimes you realize that saying I Love You or I'm Sorry are some of the best words to say. Sometimes you realize that making memories means more to you than having a clean house. Sometimes you realize how important your memories are. Sometimes there is nothing better than reliving your childhood in those memories. Sometimes you realize how wonderful your life is. Sometimes you realize how thankful you should be. Sometimes you realize how very thankful you are to have had a momma that made sure you were in church and that you knew who the Lord was. Sometimes the best memories are those of your momma having her nightly quite time and praying that your kids have those memories of you. Sometimes you realize how blessed you are with the life that God has given you. Sometimes you realize how wonderful your husband is and how thankful you are that God has given you such a strong leader for your family. Sometimes you realize how blessed you are to be the momma of two of Gods precious gifts. Sometimes you realize how much of a responsibility it is to guide your children to be the godly people that you want them to be. Sometimes you realize that you are doing something right by the way your children are living and the love they have for the Lord. Sometimes you realize how happy you are when you hear your kids sing along to some of your favorite christian songs. Sometimes you realize that your life is way more blessed than it should be and you realize just how wonderful everything is.

50-2

Today is my sweet sister in law, Barbara's birthday.  I like to tease her and tell her that I will never be as old as she is, which technically is true since she is older. Today makes her just one year closer to the big 5-0. She knows that I love her and tease her with all the love in the world. BUT SHE IS SO MUCH OLDER THAN ME!!!!

Happy Birthday BB!!!!
I Love Ya!
But you are still older than me!

House Divided

I don't really like that word but when it comes to football at our house that is what it is. Well actually it should be House Quartered. I am definetly out numbered when it comes to the favorite football team around here. I went to MS State. Phil went to Ole Miss. Brady and Rae are both on there daddy's side when it comes to who is there favorite team. Case in point....Saturday night we were watching the State/Lousiana Tech game. Phil was in the kitchen doing something and his iphone was beside me on the couch. State has just scored a touchdown and I was really wishing that I had a cowbell to ring. I didn't. So what did I do??? Grabbed his iphone and downloaded the MSU cowbell app! Needless to say I was not the favorite parent the rest of the night. Brady even hid his ipod so that I wouldn't download it on his. I had an enjoyable night walking around the house "ringing" my cowbell. It was really fun when MSU won in overtime...even if they did have to go into OT agains Louisiana Tech. It was a win and we will take it how ever we can get it.  At least we did win...that's more than I can say for the "other" team in the house. Did they even show up?

At least my sister and her family root for the right team. Way to go Alexanders!!!!

Tim

The Happy Couple
Sunday night we all gathered at Harrisburg to celebrate Tim's 12 year service recognition. Before he was at Harrisburg, he served at Vally Grove in Knoxville, TN. Now I like to think that Tim, Jima and the kids moved home because I was pregnant with Brady and they wanted to be closer to us BUT I guess the real reason was God was calling Tim to Harrisburg. I knew that Tim was a busy man at church, wearing many hats as Bro. Forrest called it Sunday night, but I don't think that I REALLY knew how busy he was. It was wonderful to hear all the great things that people were saying about him, things that I have known for close to 26 years. Jima said it was almost like he was getting to attend his funeral in person. Tim is a quiet, strong, dependable, funny, lovable, godly, awesome man and I am very proud to call him my brother (in law).  Congratulations Tim! We love ya!  Lots of pictures to follow!

CHEER!!

Rae has starting cheering this year for the 7-8 yr old football team at Mooreville and I have to say that she is very good at it. She has worked really hard, learned the cheers and dance but she found out this last Saturday that cheering is not just fun with friends. The boys had there scrimage football game at Dorsey. The plan was for them to play at 8:30 and then again at 9:40 but due to a team not showing up we didn't play until 9. As soon as that game was over they played their second game. All of that meant that the girls cheering had to cheer for two games back to back. I know that high school girls cheer for longer times than this but this was a bunch of 8 year olds who had never done this before. She was one tired little girl when we left. But she had a great time and did a wonderful job. She gets to cheer with some of her best friends from school. Rae, Lindy and Sianna are three of the tallest and loudest grils on the team. You can hear them over most of the other ones. Some of the cheers they do are new ones that I had never heard before and some are still around from my high school days. Rae was amazed that I knew the words to some of her cheers. I was never a cheerleader in high school but I did get to go to alot of the games and cheer from the stands. There is one cheer that the girls do that makes them giggle everytime they do it. It's "Hey Cheerleader" and in one part of the cheer they have to say "Shake your booty, shake, shake your booty" and everytime they say this they all make the biggest grins on their face.

This is the cheer where they say "Shake your booty" Can you see the grin on their faces?

She's doting the "i" in "Victory"

These are a great group of girls who have worked really hard to learn their cheers and they all did a great job Saturday. They are a big bunch also and three of the girls were not there. I can't wait for the rest of there games.

I don't have a picture of their teacher Ms. Judy but as soon as I have one I will add it. She is an awesome lady. She is so good with the girls and she makes this fun for them. She always tells them how good they are doing and how proud she is of them and she works just as hard as they do. Her daughter Katelyn has been helping her with the girls, showing them the moves and making sure that they know the words. They have both been wonderful. Thank you Ms Judy an Katelyn for all your hard work.

5 Birthdays and a Retirement

August was a busy month! Between my two families we had 5 birthday's to celebrate and 1 retirement.
The first of the month we celebrated on the Willis side at Michael and Missie's house. Heathers birthday was on the 9th, mine on the 15th and Adam's on the 28th. Then on the 12th Mickey retired from Lane after 31 years.

Heather, me, Adam and Mickey

Heather's cake

My pineapple upside down cake! Yum Yum

Adam's strawberry cake

Mickey's retirement cake. It looks like someone wanted to test the icing.

The card! All three of Phil's siblings almost bought the same card. It was too funny. The best part...The card said something about buying my a gag gift put since I was already married to their brother they thought that was gag gift enough!!  It was too funny! Can't you feel the love?

Then on the 27th we had all the Steele's over for birthdays. Phil made homemade chicken and dumplin's and they were wonderful.  What's so neat about the Steele's August birthdays is that Gail's is the 5th, mine is the 15th and Bethany's is the 25th but I was due on Gail's birthday and came 10 days late and Bethany was due on my birthday and came 10 days late. We like to keep things consistent on the Steele side.

Bethany, me and Gail

My presents
Gail knows that I love kitchen stuff. She gave me this beautiful pitcher, bowls and spoons.

Aren't these beautiful!

My necklace. I have been wanting one of these forever. The Alexander's got me one for my birthday. I love it.

Amber and Addie Grace got me this monogrammed bag. It is great. Maybe a new church bag?

Addie Grace was happy with the evening's events.

The Alexander's relaxing.

August was a great month. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
