Party, Party, Party

Rae's birthday is Feb 16. It is so hard to believe that she is already 9. There was just so much going on around her birthday that we were just now able to have her a party. But today was the perfect day to have a party. We started on short notice with the party. We didn't decide until this past Monday to have it today. I think that she had a good time. It was a small party but they all seemed to have fun.

That's what Brady thought about all these girls at the house.

I got this idea off of Pinterest. And it is a really cute idea BUT you need to make sure that you have stickers that are big enough. These were the right height but they were not thick enough. They would not stick to the canvas! So the girls ended up using a paint pen and sharpies to write their name on the canvas. I guess next time I need to try the project before I do it at a party.

Pretty birthday girl with her tie dyed cupcakes with tie dyed icing. Her daddy loves her. He had never done this before but he did an awesome job on them.

She is in deep thought!

There's that pretty smile!

I'm back

Boy!!!! I was gone a LONG time!! I never meant to stop blogging.  I guess life just got in the way.
I hope I can catch up on the last 3 1/2 months.
So here goes with a condensed update.
AG turned 1 on October 14. Jason and Amber had a bday party for her at there house on the deck and they could not have order a prettier day.
Phil and I had the privileged of doing AG's cake.
And if I can brag on us I think that we did a fairly good job. I've learned when we do things like this that its better for me to just listened to Phil and follow his directions cause things always work out better if I do. But don't tell him that cause I don't want him to know that he is usually right.

I think that the birthday girl had a good time. She got lots and lots of great stuff and I think she was the prettiest 1 year old at the party.

Phil and I did another cake (mostly Phil) for Jordan's football homecoming party. Jima had several of Jordan's friends over the Friday of Tupelo's homecoming for supper.  Then after that they all went to the game then came back to Jima's for dessert.

Then there was Halloween. Brady and Rae have not dressed up for Halloween in several years. For the last three years our church has had a fall festival on Halloween and we have always worked it. This year was no different. Phil, Barbara, Bob, Adam, Brady and myself worked the ring toss booth. Rae had several friends from school that came so she was playing all night. I think that they said that we had around 800 people that came through the festival!! Each year it seems to get bigger and bigger. This is an awesome outreach program that the church does. It makes me proud to be a small part of this.

Amber let me make AG's Halloween costume this year. I was so happy!! Thankfully it was very simple to make, even for me! The first time she tried it on she wasn't real sure if she liked it or not but thankfully the next time she was ok with being a pretty little ghost.

I can not get this picture to turn!! Sorry.

I think that does it for October!

Rae had a field trip to Memphis with her gifted class. She also had a Dr's appointment that morning in Memphis so we decided to make a day out of it and took the whole family. Everything was great at her Dr's visit.  After that we met her class at The Fedex Forum for lunch. I had never been there before. That place is huge.  They got to listen to a tour guide tell them about the building then they ate lunch on the steps before they headed to the Orphium. The show at the O was a CSI production. It was an ok show. All the kids seemed to enjoy it but as soon as the lights went out Rae got upset. She is not a fan of the dark. She was sitting on one end of the row with her friends and we were on the other end. She climbed over everyone in the row to get to where Phil and I were.

Of course a trip to Memphis is not complete with out a trip to Target. Especially when Mom makes you pose for a picture.

We were trying to get back home so that Rae could get to her first basketball practice of the season. That will be a whole post on its own. Lets just say that her basketball abilities have greatly improved since last year. I guess they both needed a nap from their long hard day.

Just needed a reason to throw in this picture of AG. She's gonna be a reader like alot of other ladies in her family.

I had talked in one of my other post about a Bible study that we had been doing at church called The Table Experience. The end project for The Table Experience was the church's Thanksgiving meal. Every lady that took the class plus several who didn't fixed a table for Thanksgiving. We brought out our best dishes, glasses, silverware, everything that you would need to feed guests at your table. The men of the church provided hams and Phil and I cooked the rest of the meal. It was a great night of fellowship with our church family and everything turned out so pretty.

Saturday before the meal when we went to set up I was walking around looking at all the beautiful tables. One table caught my eye and when I went and looked at it closer the china on the table was the same china that my momma had. I have a setting of mom's china but I have never seen it anywhere else. So was so sweet to see it there. It actually belongs to a teenager in the church whose aunt had given it to her and she was letting her mom use it for the dinner.

Brady had a band concert in November. The 6th grade band is huge! The concert was really good and Brady even had a small solo which he did really well at. For someone who does not practice at all he is really good at the trombone. They also played with the high school band at one of the home football games. They played "Louie Louie" and did a great job. Of course my camera decided it did not want to work right that night so all the pictures that I have are horrible. It was probably more of the operators fault than the camera.

CHEER!!

Rae has starting cheering this year for the 7-8 yr old football team at Mooreville and I have to say that she is very good at it. She has worked really hard, learned the cheers and dance but she found out this last Saturday that cheering is not just fun with friends. The boys had there scrimage football game at Dorsey. The plan was for them to play at 8:30 and then again at 9:40 but due to a team not showing up we didn't play until 9. As soon as that game was over they played their second game. All of that meant that the girls cheering had to cheer for two games back to back. I know that high school girls cheer for longer times than this but this was a bunch of 8 year olds who had never done this before. She was one tired little girl when we left. But she had a great time and did a wonderful job. She gets to cheer with some of her best friends from school. Rae, Lindy and Sianna are three of the tallest and loudest grils on the team. You can hear them over most of the other ones. Some of the cheers they do are new ones that I had never heard before and some are still around from my high school days. Rae was amazed that I knew the words to some of her cheers. I was never a cheerleader in high school but I did get to go to alot of the games and cheer from the stands. There is one cheer that the girls do that makes them giggle everytime they do it. It's "Hey Cheerleader" and in one part of the cheer they have to say "Shake your booty, shake, shake your booty" and everytime they say this they all make the biggest grins on their face.

This is the cheer where they say "Shake your booty" Can you see the grin on their faces?

She's doting the "i" in "Victory"

These are a great group of girls who have worked really hard to learn their cheers and they all did a great job Saturday. They are a big bunch also and three of the girls were not there. I can't wait for the rest of there games.

I don't have a picture of their teacher Ms. Judy but as soon as I have one I will add it. She is an awesome lady. She is so good with the girls and she makes this fun for them. She always tells them how good they are doing and how proud she is of them and she works just as hard as they do. Her daughter Katelyn has been helping her with the girls, showing them the moves and making sure that they know the words. They have both been wonderful. Thank you Ms Judy an Katelyn for all your hard work.

OFF TO CAMP!

Rae left this morning going to her first church camp. They went to Central Hills Baptist Retreat. She has kinda been back and forth about if she was actually gonna go or not. She has never spent two nights away from home before.  I told her several times that some of my funniest memories from when I was growing up was going to Camp Garaway in Clinton. We stayed a week at camp and I was always with some of my best friends from church. I told her about one year that I went, it was either my first or second year, that all I wanted that Friday when we came home was to see my mama. I had missed my mama so much that week.  When we finally got home that Friday do you think my mama was at home??? NO she was at the hospital having my brother! Back then (33 years ago) you stayed in the hospital for about a week and kids were not allowed in the rooms. After several days daddy finally snuck me up to the floor that mama was on and she came to the end of the hall to see me. That was one of the best hugs I had ever gotten.  I don't know that this story helped Rae any or not.

We got her all packed up and ready to go.

Ready to go!!!

Rae and her buddy Mary Kirk

The four buddies. They are all gonna be cabin mates this week

Brady being goofy!! He says that he doesn't miss his sister but I think that he does.

All loaded up and ready to go.
Phil texted our youth leader that is on the trip with the kids and she said all was going well.  She said that Rae was happy and having fun in riflery. That's all we need is for Rae to learn how to shoot a gun!  It makes me feel better that she is having a good time because she was a little upset when they were pulling out of the church. I could see her threw the window and she was wiping her face like she does when she gets upset and doesn't want anyone to know.

I made her a little blanket to take with her that is small enough that no one will see it unless she really wants them to. Every night before she goes to bed she and I sing "You are my Sunshine" to each other. A couple of weeks ago when she wasn't real sure if she was gonna go or not I decided to sew her this as a surprise.

I think she like it!

I know she is having a great time but I miss my little girl. I'm ready for Wednesday to get here!
